    Well, I held off 42 days before buying a gun this year.

    This double rifle was originally in flintlock, converted to percussion. Appears to be .58 caliber, possibly German.

    EDIT: Appears to be a cape gun--left side polygonal straight, right side rifled.

    Yes, so you can use one weapon for two sorts of game on the same trip. Or in countries with strict regulation, one gun serves two purposes. The straight polygonal bore will still work for closing shots on charging game. with a solid ball.

    Thanks for the update MZW. I had not even known about the existence of these weapons.. Though i wonder how those people handled the different recoils of the 2 calibres when firing them both rapidly. It might have wrecked havoc on accuracy.

    You're welcome. After my next big purchase, a local dealer has, from an estate, a modern double rifle, a modern cape gun in 16 gauge left, 9.3X74R right, and a drilling--16 gauge double over 9.3mm lower.
