    Computerised licence holders allowed to carry weapons

    LAHORE: Punjab Home Department has issued a notification according to which individuals having arms licences can carry their licensed weapons subject to fulfillment of conditions, The News has learnt.

    According to the notification carrying signatures of additional chief secretary (Home), the licensees/ licence holders are allowed to carry their weapons mentioned in computerised arms licences only in a concealed manner without brandishing or displaying them. The notification has been issued in pursuance of Rule 69 of Punjab Arms rule 2017. As per the rule, the government may from time to time by notification in official Gazette issues instructions for carrying out the purposes of the arms policy rules. The notification adds that the retainer mentioned in the computerised arms licence can carry the weapon mentioned in the computerised arms licence only when accompanied by the actual licensee/licence holder. The retainer cannot carry the weapon in the absence of the licensee. A retainer is a person, who can retain the weapon in the absence of the licence holder. This notification supersedes all previous notifications and letters with respect to 'carry permits' for arms licences.
