Fed up of rifle prices

Dear members,

I've had a rifle license for over a year now, never bought any due to absurd prices which exist till today; the dodgy NPB import by license holder thing is still not clear and prices are not coming down. I need suggestions. My primary purpose is sports shooting in range for target practice and perhaps home defense. Latest attempt was a formal email to POF for .308 which was responded by a polite message that their inventory is zero. I need expert help from members here. I'm looking for anything below 200k-300k and with ammo prices that are reasonable. I am even willing to go for .22lr.

Please share your expert inputs.

For target shooting at range .308 win sporter rifle is good choice.
But on the other side this rifle is not good for home defence due to its size and weight. You cannot move / act easily at home spaces.

Let me suggest you to wait for next 1-2 months, multiple shipments landing on daily basis.

CQA is a ideal choice in your budget and i assure you will get CQA in less than 300k.

Thanks. CQA is good but I'm afraid I may get ripped off with local maal. I'm not an expert in judging quality and manufacturing.

Many CQA rifles are fitted with local parts. Actual CQA rifles are pretty rare. I last saw one at 450k.

Same was said about handguns but unfortunately they have also gone up. Demand is there so no chance of prices coming down.

Demand and supply gap will take time, at least I have seen much decline in prices of TAURUS G3/G3C pistols in the last 2 months. M.H.O and as per suggestion of a honorable friend, I am waiting for the next April, which is going to be decisive month for new purchases. I also have a .308 empty lic. since Oct. 2019....

That depends upon your province. In Sindh yes, such a permit is required.

I'm in Karachi. A friend told me that dealers can get it made costing 15k. I don't know anyone in HD directly. Do you advise going through dealer? Better yet, can you recommend one?
