    Local .30 Rounds

We once saw a local TT whose hammer and firing pin flew off and the pin became lodged inside the cheek of the shooter. A couple of inches above , and he would have lost his eye.

He was shooting some sort of 'eagle' brand of local ammo and they were apparently hideously overcharged.

Unfortunately, POF has stopped making .30 ammo and Chinese ammo is fast becoming unavailable. This leaves us only with local rounds.

I have heard that there are a few brands that dont spacialise in trying to kill their owners. Any idea about those?

I didn't have any prior experience with Desi ammo. But as I said in an earlier post. I have used ammo made by Yadgar, it costs 22 rupees per round. I didn't have a chronograph to measure its velocity, neither I could ascertain the chamber pressure in any way. But the recoil while shooting it felt less than, Chinese 30 bore ammo. Also, the fowling in the gun afterwards appeared to be normal and neither did it shoot too smoky. And the casings appear to be of good quality. I have shot around a hundred rounds of it in my B&B TT.

OK. Have to get a box and run a few tests on it. Lets see if I can source any in Karachi.

I would love to be able to get examples of POF and other "local" .30 Bore cartridges for my collection!!!

The fact is that I actually have the largest collection of .30/7.62 TT cartridges in the world, but only two Darra rounds that got to me via Afghanistan. You have so many Pakistani brands that nobody outside has ever seen.
    Oh well...my loss.

Heck, in the tribal areas I saw brands that even I had never seen. Like ever. Hence my own curiosity

I will take fighter golds if I find them. ALso Yadgaar. I had tried ZOL. But they started tumbling and were very inaccurate. So I wil try to shift to these brands.

I didn't do an accuracy test, but I think the Yadgaar was accurate enough up to 15 yards. ED bhai kindly do a range review, of these local brands of ammunition whenever it's possible.

Yes.. I will. .Which reminds me I have to purchase a Tok. I had to sell my Chinese 636 TT some time back. I might do a BnB. Cause I like the manual safety a lot.

I should let you know, that the guns functions great in other aspects. But the manual safety on my B&B TT has stopped working. So don't ever rely on it. But it's still not that big of a turn off. As the safeties on toks are more of an afterthought, rather than part of the original design.

It was installed to get through BATF regulations in the US. And carrying a cocked and locked TT in condition one not something I would care to do. When I CCed a TT. I almost always did so in condition three

Yes exactly a safety is necessary to meet U.S import regulations. It was just slapped on the gun. Some such safety designs work better than others. Yes, I know you won't carry it in condition one, but it was a word of advice that one shouldn't even have faith in this safety during range shooting or any other situation. As it can suddenly stop working.

I have shot around a hundred rounds of this Yadgar ammo. Without even a single malfunction. And I have recently bought a hundred more. But don't know how long they'll maintain the quality. As whenever these Desi brands of ammo become popular, the makers start reducing the quality. They have already lowered the quality of the packaging and the headstamp has also been changed. Will try out the new batch to see if there's a difference.
