    Just acquired: 1842 Palmetto pistol. Wm Glaze contract of 1853. Someone cleaned and varnished it, thus reducing value, but I'm happy.

    Is it a working gun and can you still buy gun powder and pellets for this sort or guns?

    Raff: It should be functional, and yes, I have quite a bit of FFFg powder here for my other black powder guns (1858 Remington, one each original and reproduction, and a Hawken rifle repro). I believe it's .54 caliber and balls are readily available by the 100.

    Yasiralikhan: It was restored, which some collectors object to, but I'm okay with it. It's helping round out my collection.

    @MichaelZWilliamson; well you guys living in the US are quite lucky as gun enthusiasts, the availability of weapons and ammo is really good along with lenient gun laws apart from some states. Happy Shooting

    The laws are very lenient in Indiana, and there are lots of antique and modern guns available.
