Salams,

I've never been a fan of the .30 cal due to it's over penetrative nature and accuracy concerns. I had some .30 (7.62x25) ammo lying around which I wanted to get rid off and thought to take my Zastava M57 for some target shooting. I was quite surprised at the results. I fired about a 100 rounds all at 15M, targets below.

182618281831

The first two targets were shot casually with me not expecting much but with encouraging results I started to shoot it more carefully to see what max I could get from it.

182718301832

The results were beyond my wildest expectations. I never thought the 7.62x25 caliber could be so decently accurate. A 2 / 2.5 inch group at 15 M is excellent specially when taking into account human error.

Try bench rested shots at 25 m will come about the same.No rest shots at 25 are around 3-5 inchers

I think m57 is must have type of gun.

very nice groups indeed but it is no ordinary shooter but Chief. It was the fastest hand gun round until the 357 magnum hit the market. Major flaw is over penetration! could take down 2 men if standing one behind the other.

It even have capability to go through trauma plate of bulletproof jacket of level III and IV.

Great shooting.
Higher recoil from a lighter weapon makes it difficult to learn and practice the trigger and follow up.
If done correctly like Abbas did it can show some amusing art work.

@Spaypanther, Kamran_uk, Aquarius, Survivalist, Trigger Happy, GunPsycho, Faheem, MIdressTaj & Achilles. Thank you for the kind words.

Frankly I was quite surprised at the targets myself. Both brands of ammo shot with the same accuracy.

@Faisji I'm really bad shooting with the bench rest. If only we had a handgun rest with the proper gun holds. After the results above I believe your assessment of 4/5 inch group at 25m is quite right.

@MIdressTaj Right you are, an interesting thing about the M57 is that the trigger smooths out quite a bit around the 700 rounds mark. I think that is the break in threshold for this gun.

@Achilles If PakGuns had a spanish motto it would be > Munición ilimitada es nuestro paraíso ;)

I think I will give credit to the shooter more than the gun . It is a decent gum but the results are due to your shooting and the gun itself

i am sure after this post by abbas, the price of M-57 will get a hike in local market once again.. as weapons rating on PG do effect there price tag in market.. btw i love this gun as well and is my choice for SD wid hollow points

There is a reason why the .30 is so popular here.. Quite simply it delivers the goods.. An for the wanna be trigger happy killer... Aik teer say do shikaar. quite literally!! Spacialy in hte hands of a skilled an expereinced shooter like Abbas bhai..

(sigh) much as i love the .30 ( it looks like a lean mean fighting machine compared to the chubby lill santa claus-ish 9mm) I realy dont like the TT platform.

Dear Abbas, just read this post of yours and I'm dumbfounded, to say the least. Amazing shooting with this weapon! Do you have small hands? But small hands or not, I doubt many other shooters could get the group you did. Cheers, sir!

Dear Abbas Bhai,
One of my friend gave me a chinies pistol i.e. Takarov 30 gauge or locally called TT. Can you please help me to differentiate between chinies and Pakistani (Dara). The Pistol has no marking what so ever, not even a single word written on it.
Thanx

Sure, usually unmarked/unstamped pistols are local made but do post pictures. I'm sure PakGunners will tell you in no time if it's locally made or Chinese.

It would not have been made in, or exported from China with absolutely no markings at all. Must be Darra-made.

Are Zastava M-57 magazines available? Why i am resisting to buy M-57 is bcoz of extra magazine issues, as 8-round TT magazines (Chinese, Desi or others) are readily available n works fine in all these 8-shot TTs. But M-57 is another issue!

Since its difficult to resist the presence of Steel finish M-57, i am looking for a logic to ignore it. :)
