Dear Members

First of all a Warm Welcome to PG, hope you will enjoy your stay with lots of learning ...

Now about your query for an accurate air rifle within your 10K budget so as for as Rwp market is concern you can have a GAMO Shadow 640 or GAMO Delta (GAMO Rifles are made in Spain) both are nice accurate rifles for short ranges but If you want to save some more of your budget then you can also get a reasonable Chinese Air Rifle like B2 or B3 b/w 2.5K to 3.5K.

GAMO Delta is available at Badaruddin&Sons, Adam Jee Road, Sadar, Rwp Ph: 051-5525229-5525226.

There are few more shops on the same Adam Jee Road from where you can have the exact idea of the market so do visits other shops as well and try your luck ...

Best Wishes

Hmmmm brother may be you are right but as for my info GAMO Shadow 640 is different from GAMO Delta :/ because 2 days back i have seen GAMO Delta at Badaruddin and it was quite different from Shadow 640 Just have a look below for reference and this is the exact GAMO Delta i have seen at Badaruddin's shop

GAMO Delta

@Lionheart bro You are confusing a little their is 2 model One GAmmo Shadow 1000 and Second is Gammo Delta 640 ... Hope it is clear now :)

Actually, Lionheart is quite right. There are/were 3 models of the Gamo commonly seen in the market. In increasing order of power: The Delta, the Shadow 640, and the Shadow 1000. The Delta is the compact one, with a polymer outer on the barrel, the Shadow 640 has a sort of a gray-colored polymer body with black inserts at the forearm and the Shadow 1000 is the full-size, black-polymer bodied one, which incidentally, many members of this forum, including yours truly, own.

A fourth Gamo, the Hunter 440 was available a couple of years ago, which was essentially, a Shadow 1000 with better micrometric sights, a wooden stock and a better aluminum dovetail/rail.

Mr JuGno, you would best be served by a Delta or a Shadow 640, as brother Lionheart wrote above. I myself have little experience with Chinese B2/B3, but apparently, it is held in high regard by the esteemed members of this forum.

As for a scope, well my suggestion, if you are a first time air gun shooter, is to get acquainted with the iron sights, and then move on to a scope.

I believe these links will help somewhat:

well thank you all for such a warm welcome and i would definitely enjoy myself here.

I tried to look for some airguns some months back and at that time i searched a lot about the good brands and their models that best suited me
at that point i was of the view that i would be best looking at Gamo Shadow 1000.
but it was not available anywhere. Shadow 640 was available in Peshawar but i wanted to buy Shadow 1000 with some good scope.
This may be my first purchase of an airgun but i believe my taste and style would not let me have a smaller compact version. I am a sort of perfectionist.

As for the Chinese Guns i would go for them if can not find any Shadow 1000. cuz a chinese gun can be used in equivalence to a delta or shadow 640 that is for short range.

PS my age is 26

LionHeart
14-05-2010, 03:50 PM
JuGnO Brother ..... I have recommended you GAMO Delta or GAMO Shadow 640 because of your limited budget 10k what you mentioned in your first post otherwise i would recommend you a GAMO Shadow 1000 which is also available at the same shop Badaruddin&Sons at Adam Jee Road, Sadar, Rwp and its asking price is 22K. If you can afford this much then its really a powerful Mid - Long Range Air Rifle (Myself owned one Shadow 1000).... Now regarding Scope so i myself also inquired about any good air rifle scope on these shops but currently no one has any reasonable scope so for this you will have to find some other market/place.

regards,

JuGnO
14-05-2010, 04:13 PM
thanks bhai
so shadow 1000 is effectively out of range
thus making is be with delta and shadow 640 and the chinese ones

Ok now which is the better of them?

LionHeart
14-05-2010, 04:24 PM
If you really wanted to save so money then go for B2/B3 and If you wants some stylish new look with performance then any GAMO within your budget but here availability come first as GAMO Delta is currently available at the said shop in sadar so dear you have to go out and search which is available at what price and If both are available (Delta or Shadow 640) then go for Shadow 640 ... Rest you will have to experience by yourself then you will be in the market. and do check market in Islamabad for batter understanding (NOTE: Rwp markets are cheaper then Isb markets)

best of luck

JuGnO
14-05-2010, 04:34 PM
well i dont want just style... i do really want is performance. and yes i posted here to know if i can find some good one here in isb/rwp. cuz i searched a lot before and could not find anything, other than a delta, which was also over priced

Yes brother i said before Style with Performance so both things you can get from any GAMO as per your limited budget and If you would be able to find Shadow 640 with it would be better within your budget range. Most of us are also not happy with this sudden increase in prices specially Air Rifle's prices but this is what it is and we have to bear it. Regarding you import query so brother at least what I can confirm you in this regard is; you can bring an air rifle with you from UAE and this is the only nearest possible place but you well not be able to get much of a differences in prices what you are experiencing here. (Not talking about overcharging like most of the dealers do here) Any reasonable price would be around the same but one thing is good and sure that you can get many air rifle models from there.

Now come to your query for these above GAMOs. As for as Rawalpindi Prices is concern so Shadow 1000 is around 22k and other two Delta and 640 both would be around 10k - 12k (exceptions for a bit more or less depends on availability/dealer)

@sillent killer is almost correct:)diana price around 30k,,gamo 1000,,,20k,china b3-2 2.8k.,,,,b3-1,,,,,3.0k:)

wasifali89
30-05-2010, 01:23 AM
i must say something different
maybe alot would differ

1-GAMO
2-DIANA

there are much much more brands before u get to the chinese b3-2
the price also tells the difference

i havent tried the PCPs and the C02 operated air rifles so cant tell abt them

but u tell ur budget and then someone can suggest u

but it all depends on ur pocket and ur choice and purpose as well

a- if u are some collector, then go for DIANA
b- if u really wanna use ur airgun then GAMO is the best

KageFox
30-05-2010, 01:52 AM
If you want your children (and perhaps your grandchildren) to shoot your airgun, invest in a DIANA.

For most of us though, the Gamo will work just fine. It does not have the Diana's WOW factor, nor as cheap as Chinese models, but its powerful, accurate where it counts and is usually not too overpriced...

Between the Gamo and the Chinese, there are a few Turkish models (I believe under the "Webley" moniker). Slightly cheaper maybe, haven't heard of many around though.

Check out this thread, its full of air gun discussions you might find useful:

No, no scope.

Very durable, and the power is sufficient. If you want a high power air rifle, you'll have to increase your budget, as far as I know.

The Delta is pretty durable, I have one which has been in use since the past 6 years, by my dad, myself and my brother. It has only go smoother over time. Hopefully, I'll be able take some photos and post them in the Air Power thread within the week.

thank you guys....now that i am back to Karachi, I plan to go to the arms market in Saddar in 1-2 days..
Last time i went, it was night and i only found ine shop open where the shopkeeper showed me an air rifle
he said it was Spanish. It had a military green color bocy, plastic and had a scope attached.
He was asking 12/14K for it, i dont exactly remeber. But i dont know if it was a Gamo or not.

So i want to ask how much will a Gamo cost me?? I want to use it to shoot some troublesome crows and common lizards.
How is it's accuracy and power.....and reliabilty??

KageFox
23-06-2010, 07:57 PM
The beginner model of Gamo, the Gamo Delta, sells for around 14K these days... It has medium power, is pretty lightweight and reasonably accurate. I used one for around 3-4 years before passing it on to my younger brother. Have killed plenty of lizards with it... don't know about crows but I believe it will kill humanely from a reasonable range.

If you want something more powerful while sticking to the Gamo line-up, take a look at the Shadow 640 and the Shadow 1000. Also look around the market for newer models.

Shop recommendations at Lucky Star would be Mustafa Enterprises (they have quite a variety of Gamo rifles) and New International Arms.

Practically speaking, such an air gun does not exist. To put it into the simplest of terms, it would be quite a task to make an airgun with the maximum power and the best accuracy of all. No sir, not possible.

For some, RWS Diana is the one of the best. For others, the answer may be Beeman or Weihrauch.

For me, the best would be the one that is able to perform the task required of it better than others in its class.

Conclusion: Just as there is no BEST gun, there is no BEST air gun.

Sorry, I am afraid I have no clue. I still do not understand the purpose of your question...The only thing I can tell you is that airguns cannot have the same criteria for judging them as other firearms...

When you mention hunting, I would ask, what kind of hunting? I mean, beyond pest control and possibly animals like foxes and coyotes, there's not much a regular airgun can do, at least humanely. A PCP big-bore airgun, such as these (http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/show.pl?cmd_rifles=show_guns_manufacturer&Manufacturer=Sam%20Yang), is surely more powerful than any .22 springer.

If you limit yourself to high power .22 spring guns, the RWS Diana 350 Magnum (break-barrel) and 460 Magnum (under-lever) are quite powerful. Specs of the Walther Talon Magnum and Falcon are also pretty impressive. When you move into the world of PCPs, a whole host of different options is available, each different from the last...

That said...

Forgive me, but I still have trouble understanding how exactly the knowledge of the BEST airgun (I highly doubt the existence of one, please correct me if I am mistaken) will aid us...

If you are looking for an airgun, lets get back down to Earth, and take a look at reasonable options...

iam thinking of importing it from USA which one will be the best of the best in sense of hunting down animal upto fox or street-dogs and plus a good investment iam excluding PCP because it is dificult to refill the cylinder and can only be refilled at selected locations!!!!

These beautiful big bores are usually PCPs (Pre-Compressed Pneumatics). Unlike regular caliber air guns, I believe that these larger caliber airguns might be capable of easily taking down medium game.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen/heard/read about, PCPs are extremely hard to find in our country, if at all.

Would love to have one though, big-bore or otherwise....

They are very pretty !
KF , you seem to be an expert of air guns and I am sure you know alot more then me , what do you reckon ? dont you think these air guns could be fabricated in Pakistan , by our local manufacturers ?

I am usually not a pessimist, but I know for a fact that getting a pneumatic pump gun repaired around here back to its original working condition is next to impossible. Hence, I highly doubt that we ca fabricate a PCP, and I'd be pleasantly surprised if that happens... Our people are sort of experts in cloning and copying regular firearms... however, airguns are a totally different species, and PCPs even more so...

I would second you on that ! I have a pneumatic air gun lying around and I have tried getting it fixed from my gun smith, but all my efforts went in vain.
However I do belive if some one is aware of the functions , they could guide the fabricators. It would be a hands on job, but it could be worth a try !

The first step would be to get a PCP here, operate upon it to get a basic know-how of its operation and all.... Now who would be willing to sacrifice their PCP in the name of science and cloning :D :D :D

guys, does anyone know anyone who has one of these ? And do we need a license for these? Technically, these are not firearms.

KageFox
29-06-2010, 12:00 AM
Technically, they shouldn't require a license, since they are under the classification of airguns. But where the big bore PCPs are concerned... one has to play around with caution... since it is a big bore after all...

To my knowledge and understanding, PCPs are not imported here. But one thing that puzzles me is how the Air Force/Navy shooters get their match airguns. If that source could be pin-pointed, it is possible that big bore PCPs (along with their smaller caliber brethren) can find a way in...

Additional Info that might be of use: Uptil now, I've only been able to find Korean manufacturers who make big-bore PCPs, namely Sam Yang and ShinSung. Google the names for better info. Maybe it would be possible to directly import the guns from these companies...

Over the years alot has been sacrifised in the name of science and research :)

KageFox
29-06-2010, 01:50 AM
Talking about research... after my recent success with the resurrection of my Daisy, I am trying to persuade Abba to allow me to "take a look" :P at his Crosman, which is suffering from a similar dilemma as the Daisy...

In my opinion, operation of a PCP is far more complex that that of a springer or a pneumatic pump gun... but with proper utilization of time, effort and expertise, we can arrive at a point where we can begin thinking about having a locally-made PCP...

MianTaimur
29-06-2010, 01:59 AM
That is how you learn ! Have been doing the same , when I was a kid , Infact I am still doing it :P
As far as the PCP is concerned , thats what I said earlier, if some one has expertise in the function, they could give it a shot. It is my belief and understanding that we Pakistani's are a nation, who have excelled in reverse engeneering !!

Frankly I have no clue about it, nor I have ever used it !! But hey it is a wembley & scott , I guess that should be enough for satisfaction. However, I did had a chat with hamza , he is related to the guy who is selling the gun. He has exceptionally good things to say abt it. He had good reviews abt the powers and accuracy !

My Phopha has a Webley & Scott break-barrel air rifle, he has been using it, at least, for the past 30 years (could possibly be more). It's the air gun I learned to shoot on. Very accurate, and the power is nothing to complain about, it is about the same (or a little less) than the Shadow 1000. Overall, an excellently built gun, one that can possibly last for another couple of decades...
