I think this pistol is great value for the money. I tried CAP1's NP-42 at the Karsaz range. Really loved its feel and less recoil. Striker1 highly recommended for your next purchase.

I was at a dealer and i asked him that if you get enough money to buy any handgun which one would you buy? He was like Cf98 and i was laughing like hell but he was like you dont know the details of CF98 its the best handgun in the best price. I was like seriously astonished.

Balazona.. Great effort for the detailed pics. Thx. As this besides others are definately in my mind once the Lic comes through.

Sq. Ldr .. With all the firearms that I tried, I felt that the Taurus PT 99 felt the best as far as the recoil and the feel in my hand is concerned.

But 46K for the NP -42 Still feel that is too much when a PT 99 or a Stoeger can be bought in the range of 58-60K.

What is your group like on this from 15 yards?

How does this group compare to other handguns you shoot?

Balazona

Striker1 sir.
For me the trigger travel of PT-99 was a little more and its a big pistol. But i agree on feel and less recoil of PT-99.
A friend of mine bought np-42 @ 38k in Dec,08. I was taking this price as reference. I think both Stoeger and PT-99 are in mid sixties now a days so I would not compare NP-42 with the other two more established brands.

Balazona
28-02-2009, 10:12 PM
BTW,Stoeger Cougar and Taurus PT-99 both has Aluminum frame.they have more weight than NP-42/CF-98.this extra weight helps to reduce felt recoil.NP-42/CF-98 weighs only 760 grams with an empty magazine.

Abbas, may be u could not get NP-42 in Lahhore market.i tried to find it a lot when i purchased my CF-98.u can buy a CF-98 from PARA as u know it is availble there for just 35K.there is only 2000 rounds difference in barrel life in NP-42 and CF-98.but it is my own guess that this pistol can go moe than 8000 rounds.

@ Balazona Great info and pics. Probably the clinching argument for me to buy it was that it fit perfectly well in my hand. One thing... my NP42 pistol's guide rod is just a rod and the recoil spring fits over it. In yours it seems even the guide rod has a spring inside it?

I am a lousy shooter so can't comment on that :) . I guess i would be able to shoot better with NP-42 than with a G17.

@ balazona, i had already asked it in a different thread, i did not see any CF 98 with hard chromed pipe. it includes both Norinco & other marked CF98. did current lot have Chromed barrels as you mentioned or is there two types available.
cheers

I am amazed with your in put man :o coz mine also has the same recoil spring that is threaded into guide rod.

I didn't like it much, although it fits the hand very nicely the build and the finish looks like a cheap plastic toy. If someone wants to have a cheap pair of something this is not bad.

Btw it takes a little longer to get your sights in on this pistols, perhaps 500 rounds plus to have a clip in all black on the bull.

@Balazona: Thanks for the insight on the NP-42. The first time I held the gun, I thought of it as sort of... flimsy. Apparently it is not so, and would be in the list to consider when buying a weapon.

cf98 is better. Because most of the time people are china bullets in 9mm. You can't go wrong with the cf98 made in china using china bullets. It's a good budget pistol. Light weight & fires very well. I had fired over 500 rounds in it in a single day. I left few days in between it without any cleaning and fired another 500 rounds in it. Not a single miss fired. Under 40k you can't go wrong.

Think about the choice that you wanna make. Either you want a good budget pistol that works great. Or . You want a name brand pistol that cost double the price & works same as cf98.

Most of the guns that are branded. Normally they sit in the dealers store for a very long time before a right walks in & buy it. On the other hand pistols liek cf98 have alot of buyers because of the price & light weight. More new units comes in every dealer store. You get a very high rate of getting a fresh new stock every time.

NOOR & CO IN THE BASEMENT WAS SELLING CF98 FRSH STOCK FOR A GOOD PRICE.

Np42 has a new shape and different agronomics than the original.the mag is better at the edges. The front sight is more raised. The barrel is stamped 9x19 mm. Hand grip has norinco +star . The serial is also more visible and more like Taurus in detailed alpha numeric characters. The decocker felt lighter. It's 2010 production. Wonder why the Chinese still call it np42 as the fiber is different. Laser rail too is open from front and lower unlike the original rail.

NP 42 is newer version of CF98 and a better choice. Would you still buy an old model when new model is available with almost same looks, reliability and rail.

Now if only htey would have given the NP the same glow-type sights that the CF had.. But the picattiny rail made em think that sights r not important. and the shooter will be busy lasering his way though life.

U got the NP version f I am not mistaken.

I personally, prefer that one since I like the idea of being able to attach some sort of laser/light on my weapon. But it would be nice to have both options.

Anyways i will hunt around till I find my glow in the dark paint.

Its a powder.. That when exposed to a strong light source glows shines wiht an uneartly glow. I need something viscous to turn it into a paste without allowing it to lose its glow-in-the-dark properties.
