I have one Diana 54 Air King with scope I bought from Dubai 3 years back. Its not for sale yet but just to share the passion I'm posting this picture. For information, it was about Rs. 45,000 then. I believe its one of the best guns Diana makes.

I think try GAMO as they make really good airgun and they are available at a reasonable although higher than Dubai prices. They are almost half the price of Diana. The good thing about airgun is that u can carry around town for wings shooting & no one will ask u a question. In the neighborhood, no one will complain & its excellent for target practice at almost negligible cost. I give credit to my brother airgun that I used when we were kids for my whatever little skills in target shooting.

The only thing I'll suggest is that do get a branded gun as its the precision airgun is meant for, otherwise a TT can damage a person as much a GLOCK if placed accurately.

GAMO should be around the price u mentioned.

As for the airport issue, I think airguns do not require permits or anything but still, as I was overloaded, I paid Dhs 5/kg for the 2 guns I brought to a 'khaypia' in Sharjah & delivered to my address in Lahore. Thats it.

As u will see on the relevant info of the gun I have, its much more powerful than Diana 35 that is sometimes available in Pakistan. This one has a recoil reduction mechanism which makes it more expensive other airguns without this system. It has a fixed barrel, and the whole thing is much heavier than normal guns (a minus point). Its long effective range & its weight requires a telescope & simultaneously a bi pod to enjoy its true spirit.

I have a Diana Mod.28, Cal 5,5/.22 without scope.

I have no idea what that means in the airgun world but it fantastically powerful for an airgun, very deep penetrating into solid wood as well.

I use this in the summers to rain hell upon lizards outside my house

As a child I had a Daisy which had a magazine of 100 BB's and fired pellets as well.

My most prised possession was a Beretta 92 FS clone which worked with a cold gas cylinder. That was single handedly responsible for rabbit population control in f-10 nala's in the 90's.

is there any difference in Airgun , air rifle and air pellet gun?

TAREEN
29-04-2009, 03:50 PM
A 'gun' can be a pistol or a rifle, therefore the appropriate terminology is air-pistol & air-rifle. Air-rifles are usually called air-guns & usually have rifled barrel (i.e. one reason of calling them rifles apart from their shape) or grooves in the barrel and use lead pellets. BB guns use steel balls & sometimes called CO2 guns as well). Then there are airsoft guns that use plastic pellets.

I hope its not confusing :)

My hobby in childhood with Diana was shooting Bees. I would plink them when they would be down by washed floors of the backyard for water! However, this was my final target, when I had mastered everything else. I started with a large frying pan!

Interesting. How much distance used to be there between the muzzle & the bee? Actually, as I said, they would be down for water on the floor, and I would be shooting from a nearby terasse "Charpai" at the distance of some 15-20 ft! Not much distance as such, but the target was also not very BIG!

TAREEN
04-05-2009, 10:13 AM
15-20 ft is a reasonable distance for such a small target. My favorite still are one rupee coins with their nice chime... :)

AK47
04-05-2009, 01:24 PM
For the pure chime of it, I used to use bottle caps! Yet, try the stingy beasts, watch them getting torn apart! It started after I myself had been stung by one! Right on the index finger!
Additionally, it was a challenge to hit such a small target.

Well, bhai sahib when i am up for killing a crow or other animals than i use my semi auto air rifle made by beretta. I bought an airgun just to play in my back yard. At the price under 2500 PKRs chinese airgun is the best value for money. My chinese airgun can shoot upto 357 yards of range very accurately.

Bhai jaan, I am using it, it works fine and can accurately shoot a target in the range of 357 yards. Ofcourse one cannot compare it with German and Spanish brand names available in the market, but if one looks at the price; in my opinion it's a best value for money.

I'm sure you meant 3, 5 & 7 yards & not three hundred fifty seven yards. It got me confused for a good few seconds and had to read thrice to make out. Clarifying, just in case there is someone like me with low IQ.

I totally agree with you brother that in this price its an excellent option to have fun with regards to target practice. Unfortunately I never got a chance to try one so unsure about its penetration power & range. The very first airgun I used was a Diana 48 & after its demise I got Diana 54.

I observed the broken rear sight. I checked their website and looks like this model is discontinued. You may however find an optical sight to fix on the barrel if you can't find the original rear sight. Compression leakage is more critical and difficult to fix in Pakistan though.

The shops name is shaheen traders and they have everything related to airguns.

GAMO is good BUT THE SPRING BREAKS AFTER 3500 shots if u dont maintain it so do it.

There is a local brand of pellets called DIAMOND. I have shot around 3000 of these and for the most part thay are quite accurate.

I used to use a local brand of .177 round head pellets some time ago in my Daisy Powerline 880. Accuracy was flawed, and I was tired of sorting out the deformed ones. I changed to Irani pointed pellets which performed great, though a little tight in the chamber.

Btw, how do you take care of the spring?

Welcome Adeel.
To help answer your question, members would like to know, Which city you are living in? how much approximately is your budget and by small size you mean power, pellet size or length & weight of the gun?

Airgunner.22
28-07-2009, 09:02 PM
I have 4 airguns 3 of which are VERY old but still shoot good.

By maintaining i mean removing the spring and cleaning it then re-oiling it. A dry spring is more likely to snap with repeated use.

@ay_be_why :The dealers say not to get the imports as their parts are not readily available. This is as these guns are not regularly imported as is the case with pellets or regular fire arms.

@ Adeel: I bought a Pakistani airgun called PARAGON MOD 55 which is .22 caliber. It is of decent quality and weight and has a simple design. Construction obviously pales in comparison to imports but it is a good shooter for 3500rs. Easily available from Lucky star.

Good ammo makes a huge difference. A heavy pellet is more likely to hit its mark at longer ranges and is less susceptible to the wind.

Go to Lucky Star Saddar. You find MANY airguns. Pick one that suits your budget and fits your need. The price range will vary from Rs 3000 - Rs 75000 :)

Check with the dealers in Nila Gumbad, they must have Diana.
Secondly if your budget is upto 80k, leave both of the aforementioned airguns and get a Diana 54 Airking. Should cost around 65k.

Plz dont mind me asking but what are you gonna do with 1600 fps? I believe 1650 is the advertised velocity of socom extreme in .177 cal with very light weight pellets. Even if it manages to achieve 1200 fps with lead pellets you'll strive hard to squeeze any accuracy out of it; as at that velocity all of the shots will be super sonic and pellets will roll out of control as soon as they leave the barrel... you'll have to use really heavy .177 cal pellets (10 grains and above) to keep it sub 1000fps and shoot somewhat accurately.

Advertised velocity of Socom Extreme in .22 cal is 1300 fps http://www.gamousa.com/product.aspx?productID=408

So you say that this Socom 1000 is good for hunting then socom extreme i like to hunt some rabbits or pigeons can i hunt them form app 25 yards to 30 distance

jog3ee
16-10-2012, 11:29 AM
Your Socom 1000 will do well on birds up to 50 yards (provided it is accurate, properly scoped, and sighted in). If it generates between 17-20 fpe, it should do well on rabbits under 25 yards with proper shot placement.

54 Airking is almost recoil-less and the most accurate spring airgun due to this very reason. It's power is also more than 31/34/35/36/45/460Mag, equal to 350M but FAR FAR ACCURATE.

@ birdshooter007 diana 54 is less powerful than 350magnum and has the same power as thr 56TH, 460mag, 470TH and 52!!
and i agree that its more accurate than 350mag

according to my chrony testing some 350 are more powerful then other 350 models nib, same in case of 56th and 54 ,they are not much different when new ,but 54 and 56 lose power very quick as compared to 350 magnum.
