M1 Garand can be found easily in Derra or I think International Arms in Islamabad has it. At least they used to quite some time back when I used to go there.

has any one tried out Daudson's pump shotguns? how would you rate them??

TAREEN
18-02-2009, 09:47 AM
I have, very good for the price. It can fire even those cartridges that are sometimes missed by repeaters. Good for HD, strong & rugged, good for under 35 meter hunting as the barrel is short for 50 meter shots specially with smaller pellet cartridges.

sir tareen DSA's 7+1 pump action APPEARED long enough to me... isn't under 35m hunting a bit too close??? one has to have some solid nerves for that i guess :)

TAREEN

sir tareen DSA's 7+1 pump action APPEARED long enough to me... isn't under 35m hunting a bit too close??? one has to have some solid nerves for that i guess :)

I didn't go into detail for obvious reasons. It looks standard size shotgun because of fiber stock otherwise its barrel is less than 22" i.e. by any means not a hunting barrel length as the pellets tend to spread very quickly unable to create a good pattern beyond 35 meters. Only SG or #4 excel is effective after that due to larger grain size carrying more knockdown power. Injuring an animal or bird by shooting it from a longer distance is never recommended by the hunting community, it should be killed humanely for consumption or even otherwise. Most dry land birds, other than water inhabitants, are usually shot within 35-50 meters.

As everything thing is made to serve a certain purpose, DSA pump-actions are primarily for HD & guards and they are good for that. Limited hunting with it is an additional advantage. Hope it clarifies.

@ab yes for lion or big five hunting needs solid nerve if you have decide to go with a pump. but tareen did not meant it. He got batter hard ware for big game

For hunting i guess double barrels are best suited so in this range a baikal over under or a side by side would do the job.

Naazer
24-02-2009, 06:49 AM
Khilji: It depends what you'ere planning to hunt. If you're looking at waterfowl (ducks) or geese then a semi-auto is a good buy. Explore a Stoeger 2000. Its a good semi auto and a Benelli clone.

If you're looking to hunt birds on land like teetar or batair then a Baikaal over under or side by side is a good choice for your budget. Its a bit heavy to carry on long shoots but good value for money.

Hopefully, u aren planning any wild boar hunting witha shot gun--reserve that for rifles only. Better ethics!

Re: What have you bought today?Assalmaolaikum To all brothers

I mnew at this forum. recently i obtained three licences from Islamabad(All Pakistan) and endorsed them At National Bank. I reside in karachi. read alot about you people discussing. Well for pistol my range is 50-55k. i would liek to buy a CCW. Wat do u suggest baout a CZ999 or a CZ 999 scorpion or a stoeger.
for liecence no 2 i would o get a suugesstionfrom u about a winchester defender 1300 used in good shape from Faisalabad , it is avaialabel in 75k. is ita right price.
annd about third llicence i ordered a 9mm in M4A1 shape from a friend in peshawer who promised to make barrel n fire pin with some russian gun and if some other foreign parts avialable he will also use them in manufacturing. he also told that he will provide a telescope with the gunas agift. the gun/pistol will cost me around 25-27k. Also suggest me about thi last option. is it legal to carrya pistol in gun sahpe , i mean have a preety long barrel as compared to pistol.

hope to hear a quick n expreienced reply from u brothers.

thank u i anticipation to all of u .

Best regards

You should go through the forum, as there is so much valuable information already there.

For home defence, you can buy daudson's shotgun. For hunting, you can buy Baikal 153, or Baikal Over and Under Shotgun, or try Hatsan Escort.
For rifle, try BRNO 7MM, or BRNO, .22LR, depending on what you wish to do.

Good luck.

I think Anschutz is the best bolt action .22 rifle amongst all. Semi Auto is Winchester 63. While in Pump Action Shotgun Winchester->Remington->Mossberg. I will go for Anschutz (It was once available at Baksh Ilahi for 100,000, no current update) and Remington 870 with 1 defender and 1 long barrel. I invite suggestions in this regard.

http://s2.postimage.org/FRwiS.jpg (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=TsFRwiS)

Seen yesterday at Sultan Sb, Malik & Sons Nila Gumbad Lahore.

"Akdal MKA 1919 semi-automatic shotgun is the new product from Turkish company Akdal Arms. This weapon is intended for civilian and security use, and mimics the famous M16 rifle in its layout and placement of most controls. It is remarkably light for its caliber and size, because of extensive use of modern, high strength plastics.

Akdal MKA 1919 semi-automatic shotgun utilizes conventional gas-operated action with annual (ring-type) gas piston, which is located around the support tube that runs below the barrel. Return spring is also located around the same tube, which is concealed by enlarged polymer handguards. Barrel is quick-removable from upper receiver, barrel locking is achieved by tilting locking piece inside the bolt, which engages the barrel extension. Charging handle is attached to the bolt and projects on the right side of the receiver. The upper receiver is manufactured from aluminum alloy; lower receiver, along with pistol grip and shoulder stock, is manufactured as one piece from impact-resistant polymer. Akdal MKA 1919 semi-automatic shotgun utilizes detachable box magazines, each holding 5 rounds; an M16-style bolt stop and bolt release button are incorporated into the lower receiver. Manual safety also duplicates M16-style, being located on the left side of the receiver, above the pistol grip. Standard sights include front post, installed on the M16-style removable base, and a detachable M16A2-style carrying handle with built-in diopter sight. Top of the upper receiver is shaped to provide integral Picatinny rail, which will accept detachable carrying handle or optional red-dot or other optical sight."

well i am a hunter and i have used BSA, ROTWEL, WEBLY & SCOTT, ZAMBALA, then i thought to go for an auto loader i found that germinica TURKISH is the best in the range of 50,000. According to my point of view Turky is now assembeling for most of the companies arround the globe.
Better go for a TURKISH one

For information of all members,

I want to say that as per Export laws of USA, country of origin must be written on the product. It is applicable across the board, be it a LOTA for washing ---- or a gun. I am sure all countries have a similar laws.

Secondly, when buying a gun, you should demand the proof or origin in the shape of an original packing list of the manufacturer from the dealer. If any of the above two is missing, you have every right to doubt the origin of the gun. For example see attached extract of the Packing list of USA made maverick, sold by me to a dealer in Karachi.

personally i dont like auto shotguns because foriegn ammo is not available everywhere and even the best pak made ammo will jam in a auto shotgun and once an auto jams its very hard to unjam

i hate the mossberg it has rubbish build quality plastic safety and the pump feels horrible

m3 is a great shotgun but i think its way overpriced

in my humble opinion i think the best shotgun for self defence in pakistan is the legendary winchester 1300 defender

why because it is light and never jams even with cheap ammo and is one of the smoothest and fastest pump available the more you use this gun the smoother and faster it will get had mine for 15 years and it just gets smoother with age ive put many thousand of rounds throught it with no isssues

if you want a defender make sure you buy the one made in USA with silver coloured reciever dont buy the one on sale now made in turkey with black reciever and inferior quality machining and materials it does not feel the same as a genuine defender

dawoodq
29-08-2010, 10:15 PM
Dear Jagga,

Mossberg is one of the finest US made Guns. Priced under $500.00 mostly and listed as Ten top sports and home defense weapons on most dicussion site. Could you share what model you have had problems with? if you give me the serial number, I will have it checked if it is a genuine Mossberg made. you know there are all kinds of clones available in the market.

jagga
30-08-2010, 01:18 AM
Mossberg is NOT one of the finest US made Guns there are many better made shotguns in the usa, it is one of the cheapest to buy and that shows by the crappy build quality

i dont own a mossberg but have used one before, the gun was a genuine mossberg and has a plastic safety like all mossbergs which is prone to breaking also another common problem is action bar welds are prone to breaking off,i personally dont like the gun because it just feels like a cheaply made gun (which it is)with a horrible noisy and heavy action which can have feeding problems with some ammo dumping shells on the floor

if you use a winchester pump then use a mossberg you will feel the difference instantly

Bro, though your question is for ED Bro but I also want to answer it. Tactical guns are intended to fire LG / SG shorshells and slugs which gives better results with open or no barrel construction means Cylinder Chokes. That is the reason tactical shotguns have barrels with fixed cylinder chokes. So, no worries. It will give you good result without any choke installed.

Recently bought display piece of Hatsan Escort Marine Guard, pump action in mint condition. Shoot 50 cartridges flawlessly. Loving it!

To tell you the truth, that thing has been collecting dust in the back off the safe for at least a year. It wasn't until this weekend that I took it out to blow up some watermelons and I remembered how much fun and how versatile a pump could be!

Thank you hmd. I remember you were looking for a Tactical. If you can't find one, try looking for a Magpul edition. It's the same thing with Magpul furniture, but it's a bit more expensive.
