Salams everyone, I found it :)

I've been looking for this pistol ever since I sold my Mark I. This is one of the best .22 pistols out there and my personal favorite. It comes with a 6 7/8 inch bull barrel and weighs slightly more than 2.6 pounds. The balance is great, the rear sights are adjustable and it also comes with a loaded chamber indicator which is quite rare in a .22 pistol. This is the kind of pistol that you want to get if you're into light competition shooting or using at the range. The Walther P22 series and Sig Mosquito are more of a conceal carry light backup pistols.

This pistol sells for around 125 - 130 K that is if you can find it which is next to impossible. I also have a houge grip for it. Perhaps will put a scope on it in the future. Hope you guys like it.

Thank you all, glad you liked the Ruger and the photography. I'm very happy to have found it. InshAllah most of you will fire it with me in time, it really is a delight.

The other gun in the picture is not a real gun, it's a souvenir from a friend who went to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride.

The round button behind the grip is the slide/bolt. It pulls back after every shot.

Its a beauty indeed!

I noticed that there are cci shotshells in the picture.. Seems like someone is on a hunt!

btw do they cycle in the semiauto ruger? I have a 22 semi-auto rifle but shotshells do not cycle i.e i have to manually pull the bolt back n forth after every shot.. but its great on killing lizards and mice

Thank you everyone once more, specially Tareen sahib with your wonderful way of appreciation.

@Dr Zakir Thanks and it would be my pleasure. I got it for 100 K with houge grips. I got it from a Gentelman in Lahore who like most of us was trying to find an excuse to buy another gun ;)

@MHMalik I just got the shotshells day before, planning to try them out this weekend. Sadly there are no lizards left in my house, last season I did a too good of a job :( I'm thinking I need Rabbits, lots of them..

Salam, I came from Bukh Elahi last week, he has NO Ruger MKIII pistols in stock. I was also quite upset with them as I always purchase items like these.

Abbas
04-07-2009, 08:59 PM
@Moeen I also visited him two days ago and he had none. I even asked for the Ruger Mark III in particular and he told me they only imported 4 or 5 pieces about 8 months back and they were all pre booked.

Anyway did an extensive range test of the Ruger today. What a pleasure to fire. I took 200 rounds today and even if I had taken 500 I'm sure I would have shot them all before coming home.

The pistol is "fantastically" accurate, my first shot was a bull at 15 M. I also fired about 50-60 rounds on the same chart at a high rate of fire the results are below. Target was at 15 M.

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii99/AbbasMalik/Rugertarget.jpg

Zubair, MHMalik, HasanJamshed, SWaheed also had a go. They would be able to shed more light on it.

Also blew the crap outta all 'tooti's' at 15 M. If you can find this pistol, Buy it right there and then.

Abbas
04-07-2009, 09:05 PM
Forgot to add that in 200 rounds, there were no FTF or FTE's. It performed flawlessly even though I was shooting Federal hollow points and expecting it to malfunction sooner rather than later as .22 pistols are notoriously ammo picky.

Btw the .22 Hp's have a decent destructive power, moving down from .45's and 9mm I was expecting nothing but a single shot can break a brick in two.

HasanJamshad
04-07-2009, 09:46 PM
First of all i feel sorry for the controversy about the availability of RUGERS with BUKSH ELAHI as i was mistakenly under the impression that the said dealer still has these guns. Although i will try to persuade another dealer who is quite helpful to me, to import these fine guns as soon as possible(i am also interested in purchasing the said gun). I have got imported few weapons before.

Now about the test firing of ABBAS's gun. I also enjoyed firing the RUGER, pistol has a bull barrel, crisp trigger, excellent balance, comfortable grip, easily accessible controls and nice adjustable(rear, also drilled for scope) sights. Gun fired flawlessly during the entire shooting session that wasn't short. We used three types of bullets, hollow points, ELEY sporter. RWS 22 CLUB, all went flawlessly. I think the gun is made to break the myth about being ammo selective of the 22 semi auto pistols. The gun is ideal for target shooting and small game hunting as it has 6 and half inches long bull barrel with excellent accuracy. Gun is also ideal for learning shooting as it has full size dimensions of big bores and economy of 22lr. In short the gun is an excellent purchase and is a must have for every shooter.

Abbas

When purchasing the gun, the seller warned me never to open/disassemble it as it can be a nightmare to put back. After my 200 round range session yesterday the weapon needed a through cleaning and I would not have been satisfied without a complete disassembled cleaning.

Here's what it look like taken apart.

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii99/AbbasMalik/RugerDisassembled.jpg

and after reassembly.

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii99/AbbasMalik/RugerAssembled.jpg

The whole process took me about 4 hours and at times was quite frustrating as there are small parts which need to be aligned or you could face a number of problems like the main recoil spring bolt not coming out or going back in, the bolt getting stuck half cocked, barrel stuck to the receiver, magazine issues, recoil spring alignment etc. Anyway it was an experience as I've never come across such a complicated gun dis assembly/assembly. In theory it's not that difficult but in reality and for the first time does get a few curse words out of you that you didn't realize you knew ;)

To help future owners of the Mark III, I'm adding a few links that will prove invaluable should you decided to do a disassemble clean. I personally don't think it's required more than once every 2000 rounds.

Salam Abbas bhai, not to insult the gun or you but.... WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT????? Just 15 meters!!!! Thats like stating proudly "my ferrari Enzo does 60mph!!!!" I seriously think that you need to get out more with that pistol. I shoot plates in isb gun club with speed and accuracy at distances so extreme most people think I am crazy until they see me shoot it. Trust that pistol its meant for more than just 15m - try minimum 50m or more. If you don't believe me - then take a drive to ISB and meet me at the gun club, I WILL show you what that thing is capable of. Ask Dr. Zakir, he has seen what this pistol can do.

.22 Long Rifle is known as the Assasins choice... also like shown in the movie assassins with Sly, he is using the Ruger MKII Amphibious model by Gemtech. Israeli Mossad personnel carry and train on Beretta Model 87s. The IDF who guard the border walls also have on hand Ruger 10/22 rifles which they use to ruthlessly harm/maim individuals by shooting them in the knees or feet.
In N. America its the main stay for teaching youngsters how to shoot. Its a great practice round with cheap price and low recoil... plinker. The average terminal range of .22 is over a mile.
I love my .22s I have over ten... and am always out for more. The last one I purchased is a serious contender/competitor of the ruger MKIII - I bought the Browning Buckmark Contour URX. Check it out at Buksh Elahi, shoots as well as the Ruger... I was very very impressed.

You are right, the pistol is quite capable well beyond 15 M, perhaps you missed the part where I said I was rapid firing and the first time shooting this pistol. Anyway I would be more than happy to take a few shooting lessons from you and Dr. Zakir next time I'm in town as I truly have a great deal to learn.

A little update about the assembly / dis assembly, it took about 5 minutes each way today now that I know exactly what to do. Still a bit annoying but a small price to pay for the peace of mind.

There is NO need to continually disassemble the parts down to the nitty gritty bhai. Here is what I have been doing for the past five years with my Ruger. For one thing these pistols that you and I have are in Stainless... no need no let me rephrase IT WILL NOT RUST. Just pop the action back - remove the grips - spray 3M Brake Cleaner or Brichwood Casey Gun Scrubber - then lubricate. Thats it. I know its new and all and you want to go through everything but you will find that these two items CLEAN the gun thoroghly. And you have to come here it will be fun shooting.
Also I have found a Ruger MK II Bull Barrel stainless new in box (the one you have is called a slabside) the dealer wants tooo much money for it... about two lacs, I think it wise to still buy it at 140lacs considering one of the things many don't know is that Ruger does NOT sell to Pakistan - they used to but NOT anymore, its their company policy and not the law.
Now that the bug has bitten you... what about customizing it like mine with some goodies. Volquartsen Custom is the BEST along with Clarks Custom. Visit them at https://www.volquartsen.com/. I have their custom trigger set, sight, slide release, and mag release.
Keep Plinking (shooting).

The Ruger's been lying pretty much unused by me these past few months as I've been using other handguns. Recently to prepare for a local competition I fired it seriously for the first time keeping accuracy as the main goal whereas I almost always shoot for recreation otherwise. Here is a copy of the target posted in the Competition thread to show what the pistol can do and more. I believe Moeen referred to the previous target as "My Enzo Ferrari can do 60 MPH", this target I'm hoping will get more than a 150 Mph rating ;)

Shot at 25 M at the rate of one shot per two seconds. Score 194/200. Ammo used Eley Club.

Ruger Mark III is a excellent choice, i have shot up to 500 yards very easily with it. I call my Ruger Mark III (baby dragon). Ruger has some real fire power should be used at least with the starting range from 50 yards and upwards. Any thing less then that is a waste.
